Welcome to Manila, Scott Sibley!
It was a very warm and vibrant welcome party that greeted Marriott Hotel Manila’s new GM Scott Sibley. After playing father to the 95-percent Filipino staff at Marriott Guam and being happily married to a Filipina, Scott has grown accustomed to such hospitality. A lavish cocktail buffet spread prepared by executive chef Meik Brammer, pulsating numbers from the entertainment group of Resorts World Manila and high-energy dancing made the night truly memorable. The gathering also celebrated the 15-month streak enjoyed by the hotel for top market share leadership in Manila. Congratulations to Marriott Manila and welcome to the new GM, Scott Sibley!
Hotel gets silver for going green
The ongoing environmental efforts of Dusit Thani Manila did not go for naught with the awarding of a Silver-level certification from EarthCheck, an internationally recognized environmental management and certification program designed for the travel and tourism industry.
Guests will find alluring the hotel driveway’s reinvented look inspired by Patrick Blanc’s vertical gardens. The tapestry of plants provided guests and passersby a look and feel that is simply therapeutic! The Dusit’s fresh new look proved timely when it served as the official residence of Czech Republic’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg, who arrived with other Foreign Affairs officials and top businessmen, during his official visit to the Philippines. Congratulations to Philippine Hoteliers, Inc. (the holding company of Dusit Manila) vice chairman and president Evelyn Singson and Dusit Thani Manila GM Prateek Kumar for the hotel’s energy-efficient use of natural resources!
Birthday at the Bistro
It’s always such a blessing to have loved ones around to celebrate special occasions, as experienced by prominent businessman-realtor Tyrone Kalaw on his birthday. His most precious brood, composed of Tyke, Kirk, Evana and Ria, organized a unique gathering for their adored father on his special day along with their mother, Jo, at their family-owned Japanese restaurant Bistro Miyake. Close family and dearest friends were treated to a feast of some of the restaurant’s most sought-after dishes as well as a memorable mix of ‘60s and ‘70s tunes provided by the band.
All the best to you, Tyrone, and many more celebrations to come!
