Philippine fashion wows London

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee -

Manila’s fashionable set decamped to London for a glittering fundraiser for the Centex program of the Ayala Foundation. A fashion show highlighted the evening, showcasing the best of Philippine fashion. Some of our country’s top designers and boutiques  Cary Santiago, Federico de Vera, Jasper Garvida, Josie Natori, Joyce Makitalo, Jun Escario, Lesley Mobo, Lulu Tan Gan, Mich Dulce, Micheal Cinco, Pepito Albert, Rajo Laurel, Randy Ortiz, Wynn Wynn Ong, Silk Cocoon, Bergamo and Celestina  very generously donated their time and designs in aid of the charity.

Etihad Airways flew a select group of the Philippines’ top models to London in order to grace the evening’s catwalk.

The guests dug deep into their pockets for both live and silent auctions, and the evening raised over £150,000.

The event was the brainchild of a philanthropy consultancy, Prospero World, which aims not just to raise money for the Centex program but also to showcase the huge talent and creativity that the Philippines has to offer. Happily, that night, it succeeded in doing both.

Happy birthday, Al!

It was another wonderful gathering of friends when Al Tengco celebrated his birthday at the renovated Malcolm’s in Makati. Al’s birthday parties are always fun with wonderful food and endless drinks!

Guests were served the delicious steak tartar with truffle oil on a potato chip. Dinner consisted of Malcolm’s beef carving, spaghetti vongole and Carla Tengco’s delicious fabada!

Malcolm’s is known for its beef that’s so tender and flavorful. The kitchen staff even dry-age their own Kitayama Wagyu beef in the premises of the restaurant. Kitayama beef is a locally sourced beef bred from Japanese and Australian cattles and Malcolm’s only uses this type of beef, which is the best local beef I have tasted!

Drinks flowed throughout the night as everyone enjoyed the great food and company!

Happy birthday, Al! We look forward to more of your fantastic birthday celebrations!

(Malcolm’s is located at 138 H.V. Dela Costa Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City. Call 403-9484 for reservations.)

‘Salute to Sexy’

This summer is all about Superbods!

Century Tuna has launched another exciting year of its much-awaited Superbods search at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel.

Century Canning Corp. VP and GM Greg Banzon says, “Superbods 2012 is bigger, better and more exciting this year with tougher challenges, big prizes for winners and an exciting event of parties and freebies for guests.”

The launch was hosted by Paolo Abrera. The search introduced the likes of Jon Avila, JC Tiuseco, Ram Sagad and Patty Ortega.

This year, Century Tuna takes the search nationwide and adopts a sexy military theme, “Salute to Sexy.” The competition is slated on April 14 in Boracay. Aside from announcing the launch of the country’s hottest model search, the company also presented its newest face, Anne Curtis, who will be joining current endorsers Derek Ramsay, KC Concepcion and Aljur Abrenica for this year’s event.

The Superbods 2012 commercial was also unveiled featuring Derek and Anne in a military-inspired theme that presented what could be expected from this year’s event.

OOPS… In a photo for my story “Your health, your wealth” published March 20, Mr. Donald Singzon was erroneously identified as Philhealth external affairs head. He is a senior social insurance specialist under the marketing and collections department. Also, Dr. Robert Louie So was inadvertently identified as Dr. Richard So. The correct caption is printed above. I regret the error.
