Inside Insight

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee -

There was excitement in the air when the Insight Vacations 2012 brochure was launched recently at the Manila Polo Club. The brochure features the latest innovations of motor coach touring in style across Europe, the US and other continents.

It was a gathering of Rajah Travel Corp.’s valued clients along with Etihad Airways as the official partner airline and other partners such as Citibank, French Baker, Duty Free Philippines, Assist Card, Fuji Film, Nikon Club and the University of the Philippines Junior Marketing Association (UPJMA).

The event unveiled the Insight Gold, which showcases luxury travel in Europe with five-star accommodations and an experience of one-of-a-kind premium tours throughout the stay.

Insight tours limit the number of people in a group and have excellent tour guides as I have experienced in the past. (I will be writing about my recent experience in this column next year!)

The highlight of the night was obviously the raffle, which was won by Elaine Kunkel of Henkel…lucky woman! She was awarded by Rajah Travel’s Aileen Clemente, Etihad Airways’ Bobby Hukom and Insight’s John Boulding.

Customizing luxury and elegance

Not so long ago, interior stylist Andy Vázquez-Prada and social entrepreneur Kaye Tinga dreamt of customizing luxury and elegance for the home. Recently, through their collaboration, a home store called W/17, was born.

The store was blessed by Rev. Fr. Enrique Rabonza. W/17 was born out of Tinga and Vásquez-Prada’s “desire to help Filipinos learn the basics of customizing luxury and elegance for the home through furniture and home furnishings they can mix and match.”

Customers at W/17 can customize the pieces they want to achieve for their homes. They can expect a showcase of the best in both East and West with pieces that are made from world-class materials and boast of ingenious designs.

Vázquez-Prada’s love for interior styling started at an early age, with his mother, Maricris Vázquez-Prada, mentoring him. He then took up interior design at the Philippine School for Interior Design and specialized in interior styling at the Central St. Martins College of Art and Design in London.

With his partnership with Tinga, who will act as director of social enterprise, Vázquez-Prada shared that W/17 also takes to heart the value of social responsibility by ensuring that it stays true to fair trade principles and help local communities who are into furniture making.

W/17 is located at 2241 La Fuerza Compound along Chino Roces (formerly Pasong Tamo) in Makati City. Visit the store now so you can customize your very own piece of luxurious heaven.
