Rhapsody of pure color

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee -

Here’s one thing I found out about women: show them new lipstick shades and they will squirm in excitement!

This I discovered recently at the launch of Estee Lauder’s Pure Color Lipstick Collection at Opus, Resorts World. Indulgence and sophistication ruled women’s world that night especially when beauty queen Priscilla Meirelles, pop songstress Isabella Ledesma-Gonzalez, sportscaster/TV host Cesca Litton and Fil-Korean radio jock/TV host Grace Lee hosted the launch of the new lipstick collection. These four women, glowing radiantly with that distinct Estee Lauder shimmer, represented the brand’s thematic color palette namely: Coral Red, Plum, Nude and Pink.

After the main presentation and video clip, guests couldn’t wait to pucker up and choose from among 19 new lipstick shades specially concocted by Estee Lauder and makeup guru Tom Pecheux. Long queues instantly swarmed around the makeup counters as ladies seemed to have a field day choosing which shade would suit them best.

They also enjoyed having their fill of hors d’oeuvres and wine. More than that, guests also got their loot bags full of delightful goodies: select shades of Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick and a box of chocolate truffles cleverly guised as shimmer balls in lipstick shades.

Of ‘Flyer,’ ‘Sensation’ and ‘Chacha’

Of late, the gadget market has been witnessing a string of breakthroughs. Here’s another one.

In line with Smart’s strategy to push the Android OS, the telecommunications company has partnered with HTC Corp., the leading Android phone manufacturer and GSMA 2011 Device Manufacturer of the Year awardee.

At an event held at Opus Bar, Smart’s wireless consumer division head Danilo Mojica and HTC president for South Asia Lennard Hoornik signed an electronic contract. The signing was done on HTC’s first Android-powered tablet called the “Flyer,” a device that delivers another HTC innovation featuring natural pen interaction for a smooth writing experience.

The crowd became even more delighted when both companies unveiled the much talked about Facebook phone, the HTC “ChaCha.” Running on the Android Gingerbread 2.3 OS, this phone takes the spotlight with its sturdy QWERTY keypad and touch screen features.

Gadget geeks and the media-tech savvy, bloggers and individuals who have the biggest following on Twitter and Facebook flocked to Opus to see and experience for themselves what Smart and HTC had cooked up for the gadget market. “ChaCha” and “Sensation” units were also raffled off to lucky attendees from the media.

The newly launched phones are available for free at the following Smart Postpaid Data Plans: Sensation at Plan 3000, Desire S at Plan 2000, Wildfire S at Plan 1500  and ChaCha at Plan 1000.
