Beat the heat!

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton -

As the heat of summer gets more intense, now is the perfect season to indulge in your favorite heat busters — halo-halo and ice cream! But wait, there’s a new product that’s better than these two, and you can get a taste of it at the newest dessert place called Cold Layers on Connecticut St., Greenhills, San Juan. The charming owner Cindy Ng even assured everyone during its grand opening that they don’t need to count calories with the line of low-calorie treats: lace-like shavings of snow ice flavored with real strawberries and tropical fruits, topped with syrup, chocolate pudding, marshmallows or whatever suits their fancy.

Seen enjoying the healthy summer fix on its grand opening day were Hoseki founder Faico and corporate affairs director Zabeth Co, sophisticated mother and daughter Carmen Tan and Irene Tan-Luy, celebrity Say Alonzo and Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) player Ryan Arana.

Empowering the young entrepreneurs of today

The brilliant entrepreneurship advocate Ana Periquet was re-appointed as chairman of the Young Entrepreneurs Groups of Asia Pacific (YEGAP) for sixth consecutive term during the organization’s recent conference in Istanbul, Turkey. Ana is one of the moving spirits of this laudable group that aims to provide venues geared towards entrepreneurial development for young entrepreneurs. May you continue to make positive contributions in educating the next generation of business executives! More power!

Heeding the call of the nation

Congratulations to Fil-Am billionaire, well-known philanthropist and socio-civic leader Loida Nicolas-Lewis for her remarkable efforts behind the successful event of the Student Catholic Action of the Philippines (SCAP), which recently celebrated its 75th year with its 10th National Leadership Conference at the Fleur de lis Auditorium, St. Paul University Manila. The convention, graced by President Benigno Aquino III who served as guest speaker, gathered around 1,000 high school, college leaders and alumni of the movement from all over the country who all came to dialogue and take action on the theme, “Change: A Call to Every Juan.”

More power to SCAP!

More reasons to smile

Now, let us talk about a different kind of implant — osseointegration, which is “the formation of a direct interface between an implant and bone, without intervening tissue.” Now, apply this to the science of dentistry and no adult is excused for having a missing tooth!

Gan Advanced Osseointegration Center (GAOC) founder and president Dr. Steve Mark Gan, the man behind the innovative Metro Dental chain of clinics, recently attended the 26th annual meeting of the Academy of Osseointegration (AO) held in Washington, D.C. Dr. Gan is a fellow of the organization, which is one of the leaders in research studies in implant dentistry and tissue engineering. He learned valuable insights about the latest in dental implants at the international confab, which was well-attended by different clinical professors, noted periodontists, company directors and other dental practitioners from all corners of the globe.

Well done, Dr. Gan!
