MANILA, Philippines - Filfest Cultural Foundation, in partnership with Insular Life, presents its second concert of the 2011 Season featuring Filipino violinist Joseph Esmilla and the Manila Symphony Orchestra (MSO) under the baton of Maestro Arturo Molina. They will perform Antonin Dvorak’s Serenade for Strings in E Major and Antonio Vivaldi’s 4 Seasons on April 9 at 8 p.m. at the Insular Life Corporate Center Auditorium in Alabang.

Joseph started violin lessons at age five with his father Sergio Esmilla Jr. At 14, he was granted a scholarship at the Juilliard School, where he received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees. For the past eight seasons, he has been a violinist with the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra.

Founded in 1926, the MSO is one of Asia’s oldest symphony orchestras. The present MSO is composed of 64 musicians under the musical direction of Molina and is now based at the School of Music of  St. Scholastica’s College.
