Take care of the environment

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee -

Young minds were recently taught to conserve energy when Shell Comprehensive School Program (CSP) launched its advocacy program entitled “The New Energy Future.”

“Shell is committed to help in promoting efficient energy use to young students to address environmental concerns linked to the use of fossil fuels,” said Roberto Kanapi, Pilipinas Shell VP for communications, at the meaningful launch in Polo Club recently.

Kanapi added the Shell CSP provides an important opportunity to work with the Department of Education and Marylindbert International and eight public schools in the National Capital Region and Region 4-A to help build learning and evolve an environmental advocacy. Participating schools included J. Zamora Elementary Schools in Pandacan, Manila; P. Gomez Elementary School in Sta. Cruz, Manila; Makati Elementary School in Makati City; Timoteo Paez Elementary School in Pasay City; Batangas City East Central Elementary School in Batangas City; Tabangao Elementary School in Batangas City; Claro M. Recto Memorial School in Lipa City; and Padre Valerio Malabanan Memorial School in Lipa City.

“The New Energy Future specifically aims to inculcate and reinforce student’s knowledge and skills on the importance of taking care of the environment, fossil fuels, value of energy and the need to conserve it and a better understanding of climate change and the ways to help minimize it,” added Kanapi.

Happy birthday, Joey!

Photographer and co-owner of Capone’s Joey Server’s birthday party at Capone’s (where else would it be?) was a night full of laughter and music. Everyone got their chance to sing their lungs out during “rockeoke” and they sure did! Even the birthday boy himself got on stage to sing one of his favorite new wave rock tunes, I Melt with You by Modern English. (For those in my age group, you’ll know that song from the movie Valley Girl!) Of course, he rallied all the boys to help him out and it was a sight to see. Some who joined him on stage were Johnny Besa, Marco Barretto, Agot Evangelista and Miguel Larrauri. Not wanting to be outdone, the girls took their turns singing songs for the birthday boy and the night carried on into morning.  Joey’s love Cacay Moras then presented Joey with a birthday cake in the form of the Canon G12 camera created by Angela Colet of Swell Sweets (0917-5367827).

It was a great birthday party. Happy birthday, Joey!
