These past few weeks had more birthday celebrations than we have seen in a long time. Today, I bring you the wonderful birthday parties everyone enjoyed recently! Let’s start with the joint birthdays at Nuvo.
Those born under the sign Leo had a blast in Nuvo in Greenbelt 2 for the monthly joint birthday celebrations. The event proved that Leos knew how to party — and how!
Celebrating their birthdays were Frank Briones, Ingrid Mendoza, Mia Ayesa and Nicole Jacinto. Others spotted joining in the revelry were Maui Taylor, Ruffa Gutierrez, Bonito Singson, AA Arquiza, Santiago Go, Bong Aromin, Antonio Ressano, Maurice Arcache and Anton Mendoza. Even PR Queen and party maven Cacay Moras, having a few birthday bashes that week as well, was there. (See “Cacay’s birthday week” on C-10.)
Everyone had a fantastic time sipping their Hennessy cocktails courtesy of Olga Azarcon and Randy Uson of Moet-Hennessy Philippines. The birthday boys and girls were especially happy to get their own bottle of Hennessy and gifts from Bulgari or Guerlain, again courtesy of Luxasia.
It seems these once-a-month Nuvo birthday parties are getting to be the talk of the town. It’s a wonder that the place gets so unbelievably packed, considering so many other things are happening on a Saturday night.
Don’t miss the next one!
A spa-cial birthday party
It’s not what you’d expect from three expats in Manila but they opted to throw their joint birthday party at a spa! Well, it’s not the typical “spa birthday” where people have massages and facials. Tian-Di spa in San Juan can actually turn into a party venue at night and that’s just what the boys did! The old house was converted into a 1920s Shanghai-inspired house...perfect for a spa... or a party venue at night!
After seeing clowns, jugglers, fortune tellers and a mermaid in the Jacuzzi, I was sure it was going to be some party! The spa is equipped with a full bar so when open bar ended, people chose their own poison.
Three friends Robert Davis, Ike Stranathan and Arun Sharma celebrated their joint birthdays in an unforgettable style. The place was packed — talk about an eclectic crowd! It was really nice to see foreigners settling well in our country, loving it and having a lot of Filipino friends!
Others spotted in the party were Sigrid Villamil, Tessa Dragon, Maurice Arcache, Anton Mendoza, Domini Primero, Jay Server, David Goodier, Duncan Gates, John Herrman, Chris Dooley, Eric Williams, Teddy Manotoc and Phoemela Baranda.
Happy birthday, Robert, Ike and Arun!
(Tian-Di is located at 387 P. Guevarra St., San Juan City. It is open on Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. For more info, call 722-9869 or 0927-4572634. Check out www.tiandispa.com)
Cacay’s birthday week
As I mentioned earlier, well-loved PR maven Cacay Moras had countless birthday parties thrown in her honor, both in bars and lounges and private homes!
Festivities began with a bash at S-Lounge with Piper Heidsieck champagne flowing freely while listening to the grooves of Elian Habayeb and Ms. Badkiss Christina Bartges. Spotted there were Chito Melo, Louie Martinez, Boyet Sison and Alex Mendoza.
The next night saw the festivities moved to a more private location as good friends and chic home accessory designers Markus Schmidt and Richard Danao threw a party for her in their Malate pad. With drinks flowing and the place packed with good friends, the party was a blast until the wee hours of the morning. Others present were Chiqui Mabanta, Elbert Cuenca, Liza Ilarde, Stefan Schmitz and Ramon Cacho.
The celebration culminated in another extravaganza at Capone’s. The ever resourceful Cacay dressed up the venue with floor lamps from Firma courtesy of Markus and Richard. Sme beautiful stylized draping from Ed Aniel and tea candles gave Capone’s a more lounge-y vibe. Premier’s Lucio Pua graciously gave away bottles of Cuervo & Skyy Vodka to guests. Rico Blanco took the stage and kept the crowd on their feet. Seen there were Louie Ysmael, Miguel Larrauri, AA Arquiza, Joey Server and Jay Server.
All in all, it was an unforgettable birth week full of love from the wonderful people who matter most in her life.
Happy birthday, Cacay!
