Welcoming an angel
Gabrielle Francesca Cruz Evangelista, daughter of Juju Evangelista and Carissa Cruz-Evangelista, was recently baptized at the St. Andrew’s Church in Makati by Fr. Jeffrey Jamillas. A unique Noah’s Ark-themed reception followed at the exquisite Nuvo Restaurant in Greenbelt. Present during the intimate gathering were Gabrielle’s grandmother Gina de Venecia, Marichu Maceda, Nena Vera Perez, godfathers Toff de Venecia, Milo Vasquez, Joey Palma, Joel Harrah, Wiggy Funtanilla and Butch Uyguangco; godmothers Tess Gonzales, Anna Katigbak, Barbie Tiangco, Rica Tanega, Cessie Colayco and Rica Maceda.
Welcome to the Christian world, Gabrielle!
All aboard!
Known as the Lord of Scents, Aficionado Germany Perfume and Joel Cruz Signatures president and CEO Joel Cruz recently celebrated his birthday aboard the M/Y Aficionado yacht and sailed on Manila Bay with his family and close friends. With the Roxas Boulevard lights in the background matched with a Vegas-type show, soulful song numbers from the girl group La Diva and authentic island music all made the celebration truly remarkable. Delectable dishes by chef Joyce Matic and partner Abbey Gonzales left the audience wanting for more. Among the special guests of the unique party were singer Carmen Pateña, Dr. Manny Calayan, Carla Sibal, Manila Hotel GM Leon Keekstra and Thai Airways GM Nivat Chantarachoti. May you have more blessed and fragrant years, Joel. Cheers!
A successful convention
It was indeed one gathering to remember as the Boracay Regency Beach Resort and Convention Center, the first triple-A resort in the island paradise, led by visionary chairman Henry Chusuey, became the perfect venue for the recently successful national convention of the Philippine Tai Guan Ong Association.
Congratulations!
The rhythm of a leader
Senator-elect Bongbong Marcos dusted off one of his talents after more than 30 years. Bongbong had his audience putting their thumbs up after playing the song Tuloy Pa Rin Ako, his carrier campaign song, on the saxophone while on a cruise. The audience and other musicians such as Mon Espia and Dingdong Eduque joined the reluctant sax player in the song number. May you continue to soothe us with your soulful music, Bongbong.
Cheers!

Going with the flow
There was no script to follow; just a “going with the flow” kind of love as former Jayelles writer Joey Ablaza and his beaming bride Jaye Bautista recently tied the knot in a happy hippie-themed wedding ceremony. The colorful entourage saw sponsors Consuls Louie and Mellie Ablaza, governor Baby Ortiz, Eddie Gutierrez, Annabelle Rama, Seawind president Boy Jarantilla and wife Ruth, Raffy and Mariles Aguado, Dolly Coronel, Tom Bautista, banker Lito Cabrera and yours truly marching down the rose petal laden aisle to the music of the Beatles’ Imagine. Presiding over the Christian ceremony was pastor Brent Burdick amidst the cool and windy afternoon filled with peace, love and psychedelic harmony. May you have many, many years of wedded bliss, Joey and Jaye!
