The tradition continues

Since its beginnings in the 1950s, Ling Nam has served delicious and authentic Chinese cuisines. It has gained a loyal following, which led to the opening of Ling Nam branches through franchising. I grew up eating Ling Nam with the family.

Peter Fung, president of Tri-Mark Foods Inc., the company handling Ling Nam, says, “Ling Nam has re-engineered to keep the restaurant’s old glory and legacy as the best tasting noodle house in the country. Families and friends can now look forward to Ling Nam as casual dining.”

Ling Nam recently opened its fourth restaurant at Shopwise Commonwealth Block 17, Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City. The franchise restaurant is owned by Glenn and Zenny Labog who are not new in the restaurant industry and used to operate a chain of restaurants in the US.

Families, friends, loyal clienteles and some friends attended the restaurant’s opening. Guests enjoyed the performances done by the Philippine Ling Nam Athletic Association and served with Ling Nam specialties. Among the guests were Tomas Fung (founder of Ling Nam) and wife Alina Fung, Evelyn Fung, Jose Mari Chan and wife Mary Ann Ansalado-Chan and Tong and Linda Mañalac.

(Check out its website at www.lingnam.net or visit Ling Nam branches in Binondo, Manila; Banaue Street in Quezon City; and Greenhills, San Juan. For franchising opportunities, you can contact Tri-Mark Foods Inc. at 376-5119 or e-mail [email protected])

Running for a smile

This month, Dusit Thani Manila’s DFiT Fitness Club takes off on a week-long health and wellness fête as it celebrates its third anniversary dubbed as DFiT Triple Feat, with its thrust in creating a better lifestyle for all. This year, however, DFiT also endeavors to give a new meaning to wellness by enjoining the public to take part in changing lives of children and heal humanity one smile at a time.

Operation Smile Philippines executive director Roberto Manzano says, “DFiT and Dusit Thani Manila along with Operation Smile Philippines share the same vision in mobilizing a world of generous hearts and in making them realize that within our grasp is the ability to change the future of a disfigured child, and by doing so, demonstrate that involvement creates change.”

One of the highlights of the event is the 3K Fun Run which will be on Feb. 20, Saturday, at The Fort, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Registration and redemption of race kits start at 5 a.m. with a minimal registration fee per person, which includes race bib, route map and singlet. Drinks will also be provided at the finish line and at strategic areas in the race course, while roving and standby medical aids and ambulance services will be available all throughout the event. Overall champion will win an annual membership at DFiT worth P31,400.

Dusit Thani Manila GM Prateek Kumar shares: “We strongly support Operation Smile’s advocacy on treating childhood facial deformity and giving the gift of cleft surgery. We appeal to your generous hearts. Please join us in this worthy cause. Let’s give wellness a different facet, heal children’s smiles and transform lives one child at a time.”

Other daily activities from Feb. 15 to 20 include Fitness Testing and Evaluation, Aerobics Marathon and Bench Press Competition where a limited supply of L’Occitane products will be given away to early registrants.

Operation Smile, a not-for-profit volunteer medical services organization that provides reconstructive surgery and related health care to indigent children afflicted with cleft deformities, is the official beneficiary of all the proceeds of DFiT’s 3K Fun Run.

DFiT Fitness Club is located at the second level of Dusit Thani Manila.
