Modern nobility
MANILA, Philippines - Ever heard of a product so revolutionary it moves you to leave lucrative ventures behind to start a new one?
Founded by Lila Macapinlac, president, and Shyan Lim, managing director, Noble Life International distributes scientifically formulated organic healing foods in Southeast Asia. At the heart of their product is natural PPARS (Peroxisome Proliferator Accelerated Receptors). That acronym may be unfamiliar now, but with clinically proven properties that lower cholesterol and blood glucose levels as well as anti-inflammation and immunomodulation effects (which help reduce psoriasis-caused skin lesions, arthritis and tumors), these will soon be top-of-mind for those looking for effective health supplements.
“In the Philippines, there are many people with problems with cholesterol and blood sugar,” said Shyan, a Singapore national. “Especially over the age of 45, many people experience chronic lifestyle diseases caused by diet.” According to Shyan and Lila, there are 28.7 million sufferers of chronic diseases in the Philippines. Over 30 percent of the population experience some form of diabetes. “With this product, we can really impact their lives and make a change,” said Lila.
Noble Life’s products are unique. Made from Cryptomondales, a species of algae grown in a single farm in Taiwan and developed after 30 years of extensive study, the product is vetted by world-renowned scientists Dr. Su Ih Jen, a fellow of the World Health Organization and current research director of the National Health Research Institute of Taiwan; and Dr. Chao Yu Sheng, National Health Research Institute of Taiwan research director specializing in diabetes. “We don’t need to hype the product,” said Lila. “It speaks for itself.”
Lila and her family have been based in Singapore for 15 years with a successful travel agency and human resources business when she was introduced to Shyan and the product. With so many ventures on her plate, she was at first loathe to take the project on. “I wasn’t interested in making more money, because I had enough,” she laughed. “But when they said that the product could help diabetics and other sick people, that made me move. My husband’s whole family is diabetic,” she explained. “I’ve seen some people get amputated and still die. My own mother suffered from a heart attack. Sickness is very painful, not only for the one suffering but for the family as well.” After some of her employees tried the product and reported lowered blood sugar and cholesterol — and began recommending it to others — she was immediately on board. It is this powerful brand of personal testimony that also continues the growth of her company to this day. (For best results, always consult a doctor.)
Aside from filling a health need, the Noble Life business model also hinges on providing opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs. Shyan and Lila said that it is possible to become a Noble Life independent distributor for an investment of less than P10,000. The business model allows for creativity in marketing the product, allowing distributors to explore their business talents and leadership qualities.
At the core of this is the sincere belief in the potential of the Filipino people. Such is Lila’s conviction in this wellspring of talent that she made the sacrifice to leave her family and successful businesses behind in Singapore to develop the company in the Philippines.
Today, the business model has been so successful that some of the company’s distributors have been able to take their business beyond the Philippines. Because of the Filipino’s typical international network of friends and relations, the company is able to expand aggressively in Asia, with branches in Macau and Singapore — and beyond. There has been interest in distributing the product in Italy and the Middle East as well. “The Filipinos are our top distributors,” said Shyan. “It’s a reverse from the usual model where an American multinational sets up shop here. Now, Filipinos are actually setting up branches in other countries and employing the people there as agents!”
To celebrate Noble Life’s three successful years and to thank the people who have made it possible (distributors and clients), the company will hold a thanksgiving event on Oct. 10 at the Araneta Coliseum. Foreign dignitaries will grace the event, and entertainers and raffle prizes will punctuate the festivities. “I just want to thank everyone who helped impact the lives of so many sick and ailing people,” said Lila. “It’s our way to celebrate life...the Noble Life!”
