A night for fashionistas

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee -

Two scorching fashion parties that featured collections from two of Manila’s most sought-after designers took place at Members Only.

The jewel toned luxe fabrics of Patrice Ramos-Diaz’s Paradi collection was elegant and stylish. Her muses Sigalit Djemal, Romina Urra Gonzalez, Erica Concepcion, Odie Saludares, Trish Chua-Juico, Lulu Tan-Gan and Tessa Prieto-Valdes looked stunning in Patrice’s creations. Her collection can go from ready-to-wear to couture and still be considered “runway ready.” Grey Goose’s Dirty Martinis and Cosmos made guests happily buzzed.

The following week featured Rosanna Ocampo’s summer collection inspired by French impressionist Claude Monet and his famous gardens at Giverny that he immortalized in his paintings. Her muses included Jackie Cohen-Antonio, Anna Angara, Amanda Griffin-Jacob, Joey Mead, Claudine Trillo, Leica Carpo, Kelly Misa, Stephanie Zubiri, Erin Campos, Nicole Jacinto, Juana Manahan-Yupangco and Vicky Abary de Leon. They all wore bold prints, flirty cuts and flowing dresses. Bacardi mojitos in apple, mango and original flavors kept the vibe going throughout the night.

Both these events were part of the “Prive” parties at Members Only, Manila’s private membership bar and lounge.

‘Art Rebel to Legend’

The Philippine-Italian Association and the Tantoco-Rustia Foundation launched a comprehensive collection of the life and works of Diosdado Magno Lorenzo through a book entitled Art Rebel to Legend at the National Museum.

Authored by Alice Guillermo, the book showcases over 200 of Lorenzo’s works that started a whole new chapter in Filipino Art. A replica of the book was unveiled on stage led by Lorenzo’s wife Lina Paolini-Lorenzo with former first lady Imelda Marcos, Ambassador Bienvenido Tantoco Sr. and the artist’s son Dr. Emilio Lorenzo.

Also spotted at the event were Enrico Lorenzo and daughters Mariella Villaraza and Erlinda Lorenzo, Conrado Calalang, Nelly Bengzon, Eduardo Jarque, CCP president Nestor Jardin, art critic Cid Reyes and Benito Legarda Jr.

This event was made possible by the Malayan Insurance Company, Inc., Tantoco-Rustia Foundation, Ralph’s Wines and Spirits and Shopwise. The Sofitel Philippine Plaza provided the delectable spread.

(The book is available at the office of the Philippine-Italian Association, 2nd Floor, Zeta Bldg., 191 Salcedo St., Legaspi Village, Makati City. For more information, please call 892-7253, fax 815-1310 or e-mail [email protected] or [email protected])
