What do you do when you know it’s going to rain on your parade? What does a bride do when all the eggs at the Sta. Clara Convent are not going to stop a downpour on her wedding day? For bride Kimberly Javelosa, the solution was sinple: Adjust.
The rains did not stop pouring in Bacolod City that week, dampening preparations for the wedding of Carlos Bacani, son of former Agriculture Secretary Senen C. Bacani and Yolanda Fenix Bacani, and Kimberly, daughter of the late Mayor of Sagay City Fortunato Javelosa and Susan Marañon Javelosa. But the rains didn’t prevent family and friends from joining the couple in Bacolod for the celebration.
Caloy and Kim planned their church wedding to take place in the bride’s hometown of Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. In a friendship and romance that had started since late 2003, it was a fitting culmination to their five years together.
The couple met when they both began working for Nestle Philippines after Kim graduated from De La Salle University and Caloy from the University of Asia and the Pacific.
Upon Caloy’s return from his MBA studies in the US last September 2008, Kim immediately took care of planning the wedding within just three months. But the wedding she had painstakingly worked on was not meant to be. Bad weather and unforeseen circumstances had forced changes of venues, from the San Isidro Labrador Church to the Sta. Clara Chapel and the reception from “The Ruins” to the Negros Occidental Golf Club (Marapara) — all happening just a day before the wedding!
However, as the saying goes “All’s well that ends well,” the wedding turned out to be a most successful and memorable affair. This was especially made possible by the couple’s florist and decorator Vivien “Beng” Villanueva of Trims n’ Treasures, who turned both the chapel and the reception hall into a beautiful setting for the wedding.
The Sta. Clara Chapel, known for its beautiful altar, its mural of Birhen Sang Barangay, and its chandelier all made of shells proved to be the perfect venue for the wedding Mass and ceremony. It also complemented the bride’s beautiful and intricately laced gown by Patrice Ramos-Diaz, who also made the gowns for the entire entourage in various shades of teal and gold.
The food, catered by local favorite Tison’s Catering, was a sumptuous feast that guests thoroughly enjoyed. This was topped off by great coffee and delicious desserts that were especially made by Kuppa — a popular café in Bacolod City.
The couple’s family and friends, some coming all the way from Manila and the US were in full attendance. It was a night filled with joy and happiness capped by a beautiful display of fireworks prepared by Peacock Fireworks and all night dancing with the band with lights and sounds provided by Psalm’s Audio.
