STC's night

Alumnae of St. Theresa’s College will be having their Homecoming Day on Jan. 31, Saturday with Batch ’84 hosting the affair as the Silver Jubilarians.

It has been tradition for the Silver Jubularians, besides hosting the Homecoming Day, to raise funds for Sambayan Educational Foundation Inc., (SEFI) whose main mission is to make quality education available to financially disadvantaged but intellectually gifted students. The SEFI program is not a scholarship program but a reduced tuition fee scheme for 11 years of schooling from Prep to Fourth Year High School for qualified lower-middle income groups. Applicants would have to pass a rigorous set of criteria as well as entrance exams to qualify. Once a student has been accepted into the program, a social worker regularly monitors her progress and checks on the family environment.

In line with this, Connie Amon, a member of Batch ‘84, has produced a double-CD album entitled “My Homecoming.” This album is a true collaboration of local and international artists who demonstrated their expertise so brilliantly to be able to inspire and reach out to the listeners especially to the youth and channel their gifts to a worthy cause such as SEFI. Sharing the vision are notable artists, composers and musicians like Pauline and Bob Wilson of the renowned jazz group “Seawind”, guitar maestro and producer Randy Bernsen, renowned jazz musician and shakuhachi virtuoso John “Kaizan” Neptune, world renowned violin virtuoso Alfonso “Coke” Bolipata, world class Filipino composer, educator, musician Ryan Cayabyab, UP music chairman and former STC music teacher La Verne de la Pena, renowned musicians and artists like Jay Durias, Pido, Tots Tolentino, Lewis Pragasam, Michael Veerapen, Zailan Razak, Mac Chew, Eric Sheffield, Susan and RIB, Andy Peterson, Cynthia Ayala, Noel Mendez, Kakoy Lagaspi, Bhebo, Elmer Blancaflor, Angee Razul and Anak Jiwaku. The album will be launched on the Homecoming Day and costs P600. All proceeds from the CD sales will go to SEFI. Those who would like to get a copy of the album may get in touch with Dr. Joannie Arabelo-Aquino at 0918-9188942 or with Dr. Marge Lat-Luna at 0918-9234718.

So, calling all Alumnae of St. Theresa’s College (Quezon City, Manila, Baguio and Cebu). Be at STC-QC on Jan. 31 and come home to “A Night To Remember!”
