Mobile aficionados have reason to celebrate as Nokia and Smart Communications, Inc. recently launched the Nokia N96, the all-in-one device that gives you freedom to capture moments, connect to the world, live life in tune, explore places and enjoy TV on the go.

Nokia Philippines GM William Hamilton-Whyte says: “This is our most advanced multimedia computer to date, combining outstanding video and camera capabilities, music playing, Internet connectivity and navigation and bringing it all to the next level. The pioneering dual slide design blends phone and multimedia options seamlessly so it makes discovering and sharing experiences effortless. The Nokia N96 is simply in a league of its own.”

 Smart’s chief wireless advisor Orlando Vea adds: “We believe that to truly maximize the features of advanced, all-in-one devices, they need to be powered by innovative operator technologies — offering the Nokia N96 is a natural fit for Smart.”

Nokia makes a wide range of mobile devices and provides people with experiences in music, navigation, video, television, imaging, games and business mobility through these devices.

The Nokia N96 allows one to enjoy watching crystal-clear TV through myTV, the country’s first and only high-definition mobile TV service, offered by MediaScape in cooperation with Smart. myTV’s range of top-rated TV channels include 24-hour news channels CNN and CNBC, MTV Philippines, Cartoon Network, National Geographic, History Channel, PBA, Solar Sports, Basketball TV, ETC and Jack TV. Through the Nokia N96, it is even possible to record favorite programs to watch at a later time. One can view videos, pictures or web pages in the bigger screen with its TV-out cables connected to an LCD or projector. The Nokia N96 can also store up to 40 hours of video or 12,000 songs with its built in 16GB flash drive. Surfing the Internet is a breeze, thanks to its WiFi capability. I have been personally using the N96 for a month and it’s the best phone I have used so far!

Held at Silvercity in Ortigas, the myTV N96 ambassadors Chris Tiu, DJ Jon Herrera, model Brent Javier, sports anchor Jude Turcuato, stockbroker Mike Jacob, Amazing Race Asia contestant Tisha Silang, model and writer Kelly Misa, model Apples Aberin-Sahdwani, actress Rhian Ramos and singer Nikki Gil were also introduced.

All about women

“The Women,” a film based on a 1930’s re-make, recently had a premiere screening at the Cineplex Theater of Shangri-La Mall and was co-produced by Dove for women. Directed by Diane English, the film is a highly-entertaining peek into the lives of diverse women bonded closely by friendship. The film stars Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Eva Mendes.

The premiere had gourmet cocktail fare done by Gaita Fores. Seen enjoying were Therese Santos, Ping Valencia, Naty Pappas, Maribel Ongpin, Maryann Ojeda, Frannie Jacinto, Jojo Zabarte, Marielle Santos-Po and the Unilever team of managing director-beauty care category Gilbert Simpao, corporate affairs director Jika Mendoza-Dalupan and Dove brand manager Dennis Perez.
