Defying the impossible
Premier sports brand Adidas reaffirmed that “Impossible Is Nothing” in a fashion presentation held at the Rigodon Ballroom of The Peninsula Manila. Adidas unveiled the new Fall/Winter collection as MTV VJ Andi9 along with TV host Vito Lazatin hosted the event. The company’s managing director Joey Singian talked about the growing Adidas family with its new acquisitions (including Reebok) and continuous innovations.
The new sport performance line was modeled by basketball players Doug Kramer, Wesley Gonzales, Kelvin dela Peña and JC Intal. Then the new women’s and men’s training lines highlighted Adidas’ sport and style, then the latest Stella McCartney collection. A dance performance by world hip hop champions, the All Stars, followed.
Celebrities Jay-R, Bianca King, Kris Lawrence, Chesca Garcia and Nancy Castiglione also modeled and got together with radio jocks Mo Twister and Mojo Jojo, Slick Rick, Tony Tony and King DJ Logan, music maverick Toti Dalmacion, and rock bands Up Dharma Down and Spongecola.
Adidas is truly an inspirational brand that will always dream the impossible for years to come.
Rebirth of the Underground
Warehouse 135 initiated its campaign to elevate the club scene by resurrecting the Underground. Driven and Warehouse 135 brought in Superstar DJ and producer Steve Porter and marked the ultimate rebirth of the Underground.
Take the best electro set you’ve ever heard in your life, increase the intensity several notches higher and that’s Porter House for you! His Big Room Electro, Techno and Progressive set with Break Beats for build-up was electrifying! No wonder his tracks find their way into the CD boxes of the likes of Sasha, Lee Burridge, Derrick Carter, Carl Cox, Sander Kleinenberg, Mark Farina and Paul Van Dyk. Porter’s suave DJing style created a connection between him and the crowd.

Calica first made a name for herself by creating wedding gowns and after 10 years of experience in the bridal industry, she said, “People can expect my real design aesthetic.”
The perfect complement to Calica’s creations is the wearable and versatile jewelry of Elena Bautista of Goldworks who says, “I have always believed that one’s jewelry should reflect one’s own personality.” Emi Jorge adds the perfect finishing touch for this one-stop shop with her shoes. While her designs for Solea have been on the bold side, she says, “For this new line, expect to see something more creative. It may be modern, archaic, sculptural... but the common denominator will still be its sexy appeal.”
Calica, Jorge and Bautista join an illustrious list of Filipino designers whose works will find a home in Greenbelt 5 — Patrice Ramos-Diaz, Jun Escario, Randy Ortiz, Jojie Lloren, Joey Samson, Dennis Lustico, Ivarluski Aseron, Vic Barba, Lulu Tan-Gan, Lila Almario and Ana Rocha will also have their own boutiques, along with accessories designers Amina Aranaz-Alunan and Arnel Papa.
