The grandiose celebration at the exclusive North Forbes Pavilion where she was joined by loving husband Paing was filled with personalities from the social, political, philanthropic and banking sectors. Mely saw to it that the attendance was limited to close friends and family, who were all entertained in grand Mely fashion, complete with choice gourmet dishes from La Tasca and elegant table settings that bespoke of her inimitable taste.

Several facets of Mely’s past activities were also revealed that memorable evening. Very few people knew that aside from being a known socialite in the ’50s and ’60s, Mely was an athlete at the Assumption Convent, adept at playing basketball, golf and softball. Apart from her sporty side, she was also a graceful swan, modeling for Slim’s couture.
