Here's to more Bigfish parties

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee -
Bigfish’s Domini Primero’s mission is to take the local clubbing culture to next level by promoting the new dance music of today.  A series of two successful parties were done recently.

The packed "Drop @ Embassy" party featured Joel Lai, Hong Kong’s finest DJ and owner of the famous Hong Kong club in Drop.  Then, together with Addict Mobile and Nokia, Bigfish brought back to Manila the world’s leading clubbing pioneers, Ministry of Sound.

Over 3,000 people celebrated the party by dancing the night away to the funky house tunes of DJs Johnboy Lee and Axwell of Ministry of Sound.  Another first in the Manila party scene was a live rock rendition of the Philippine national anthem performed by Scarlet of Brownbeat on vocals and Noni Aurillo on lead guitar.

Seen on these events were Joanne Quintas-Primero, Pixie Cheah, Ricky Daker, Gerry Santos, Derek Ramsey, Borgy Manotoc with girlfriend Ornusa Cadness, Rachelle Lobangco, Robin da Roza, Sharmaine Arnaiz, Dale Villar, Faith Amigo, Osang Yulo, Giselle Sityar, Ria RomeroDavid Nugent, Ipe Cruz, Tim Yap, Amanda Griffin, DJs Manolet and Jed Dario, Jon and Marc Naval, Jigger Antonio, May Muñoz, Victor Consunji, Chinggay Andrada, Nicky and Malou Romero, Philippine Star’s Celine Lopez, Marcel Crespo, Jing Monis, Tonichi Nocum, and brothers Atom and Danby Henares.

The show’s theme, "Modern Chic Sensuality", was conceptualized by the production team of JP Yeaps, which is directly in line with Black Code’s message of potent masculinity packaged in a luxurious and refined waytrue masculinity need not be rugged. After the show, guests enjoyed Johnny Walker Black.  Philip Cu Unjieng and Abigail Arenas de Leon won Vanity Fair at the Oscars books for being chosen man and woman of the night.

Another kind of market
The Salcedo Community Market celebrated its first anniversary with live entertainment, raffles, prizes, discounts and promos on all items sold.  The very popular food and plant market held every Saturday in Makati saw a marching band and ati-atihan dancers around the Jaime Velasquez Park and "Los Trobadores", a rondalla band serenaded the shoppers with Filipino kundimans as did the Angklung Ensemble and Choir from the Makati High School.

Bel-Air’s barangay captain Nene Lichauco noted that the Salcedo Community Market had grown from a modest 27 tables to more than a hundred.

Lichauco was on hand the entire day to give out raffle prizes and entertain the market’s guests of honor, Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay and wife Elenita.

Lisa Ongpin Periquet and Trickie Colayco Lopa thought of a weekend food and plant market to service barangay residents. Periquet said, "It brings together the people who live and work here while providing a useful service.  The market goods are unique and the result of efforts of home-based entrepreneurs."

Among the regular shoppers enjoying the first anniversary of the market were Makati Rep. Teddy Boy Locsin and wife Louie, Makati councilor King Yabut, Barangay Dasmariñas captain Carrie Legaspi, Dr. Jaime Laya, Lizzie Zobel with daughters Mercedes and Eugenia, Suyen Sia, Susan Calo Medina, Chuchu Madrigal Eduque, Marylou Prieto, former Tourism Secretary Tony Gonzales, Makati Commercial Estate Association president Adolfo Duarte, Jimmy Matias, and Toto and Bessie Cruz.

Check out the Salcedo market for fresh seafood fish, shrimps, clams, ulang and seaweed.  Buy local and imported fruits, regional delicacies such as carabao’s milk majablanca and pastilles, dayap-flavored yemas and old-fashioned plate-sized ensaimadas, adobong itik and buko pandan. The plant section offers giant heliconias, bromeliads, champaca, ylang-ylang, rosal, jasmine, bougainvilleas and orchids.
