Singapore Airlines on Cloud ‘33’

PEOPLE - Joanne Rae M. Ramirez -
It was an evening of triple-triple blessings when Singapore Airlines (SIA) inaugurated its new town office. Celebrating its 33rd year of operations in the Philippines, SIA has moved to the 33rd Floor of the LKG Tower on Ayala Ave. in Makati City. And coincidentally, the current SIA general manager is 33 years old!

SIA’s PC Teh, senior vice-president for Southeast Asia, Japan and Korea, Eugene Lee, the 33-year-old general manager and Rita Dy, manager for marketing communications and services were joined by close friends from the business and tourism sectors for this auspicious event.

Guests were welcomed to the new SIA office with the soothing music from a harpist. Each guest was given a specially designed gold and blue candle for the blessing ceremony. During the tour of the new office premises, guests were treated to a panoramic view of both the Makati Business District’s skyline and the calming aura of Manila Bay.

In keeping with tradition, well-wishers Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace Durano, Ambassador Lim Kheng Hua of the Embassy of Singapore, Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay and Lt. Col. Danilo Crisologo of the Department of Transportation and Communications tossed coins after the blessing. The guests of honor then led a champagne toast of congratulations.

SIA A380 souvenir items were given to guests in appreciation of their attendance. SIA will be making aviation history as the launch carrier of the world’s first Airbus 380 in 2006.
