BMW, the name associated with sheer driving pleasure, marked an important milestone in its long history: 75 years of automobile manufacturing excellence.
BMW Philippines Corp. thus celebrated with a gathering of friends, business partners, clients and special guests. In tune with the historical theme of the event, Makati Shangri-La Hotels Rizal Ballroom was transformed into a veritable showcase of the latest BMW automotive masterpieces side-by-side with their classic forerunners. On one side was BMWs present flagship model, the new 7 Series, together with the latest dream machine, the new BMW 6 Series. On the other end stood a classic 1969 BMW 2002, together with a muscular BMW M6. Both old and new cars proved that owning a BMW is indeed possessing a timeless classic.
The Silver Anniversary celebration served as both a farewell and a welcome party for two key personalities in BMW Philippines. The event was a chance to bid adieu to dapper Mark Gilbert, the man at the helm of BMWs local subsidiary since its entry to the country three years ago.
Meanwhile, guests were given a chance to welcome the urbane Dr. Joerg Breuer, who takes over the position. BMW Philippines Chairman Jose Ch. Alvarez gave a warm farewell and welcome speech to Mark Gilbert and Dr. Joerg Breuer, respectively, while Prestige Cars BMW Chairman Joey Antonio was onstage to represent the BMW dealer network. The guest list included diplomats, industry leaders, government officials like German Ambassador Herbert Jess, Trade and Industry Secretary Cesar Purisima, Makati Rep. Butz Aquino.
Heres to 75 years of dynamic and luxurious motoring from BMW!
French Ambassador to the Philippines Renee Veyret, who is always on-the-go with successful activities promoting her country, again hosted a celebration of the National Day of France. The lively affair was a remembrance of the historic storming of the Bastille which signaled the end of the French monarchy and the beginning of the Republic.
The celebration fittingly capped the successful sixth French Spring in Manila. Mandarin Oriental Manilas tres chic ballroom was abuzz with activity, as the buffet table gave credence to Frances reputation as a seat of gastronomy. There seemed no end to the refills of French patés and terrines prepared by expert Mandarin Oriental chefs: assorted cheeses and quiches, sumptuous French dishes and pastries. Once again, the Mandarins efficient staff came through, looking sharp in their uniforms. The diplomatic community was there in full force, as were business titans, society personalities, politicians and government officials led by former President Fidel Ramos, civic leaders, and of course, the veritable Francophiles.
Heres a toast to the great nation of France!
