The curtain rises anew

my LIPS are SEALED… sometimes… - Maurice Arcache -
The good old days are back, dahlings. There was no doubt that it was as soon as Southern diva Kuh Ledesma, (fantastic in a Pepito Albert shiny blue outfit) joined Fe de los Reyes, and Felichi and Angeli Pangilinan on stage to sing Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch elicited wild cheers, applause and howls from the mixed crowd of serious night owls, serious musicians and seriously big names in the local entertainment front.

The fantastic performance occurred at that one-of-a-kind live entertainment mecca, Tavern on the Square, now "resurrected" with a new address in Greenbelt 3.

Judging by the way the "electricity" zapped the crowd that night, dahlings, there was no doubt that the people behind Tavern on the Square know how to throw a party. Not surprising because they’ve put up concerts upon concerts and shows upon shows in the past, n’est ce pas?

Invitees rushed in by 7 p.m., indulging on spirits at the bar. Enter Fe de los Reyes on stage as the seemingly unofficial host. Her first punch line energized the crowd inside the West Hollywood-inspired bar. After a bat of an eyelash, the likes of Tavern mega veterans from the ’80s, Gary Valenciano and Zsa Zsa Padilla had the rocking crowd shouting for "More!"

Hotshot namedroppables streamed in like Randy Santiago; Rachel Alejandro; Geneva Cruz; Jaya; Robert Seña; Jinky Llamanzares; Bimbo Cerrudo; Buboy Garovillo; Leo Martinez; Lou Bonnevie; Niño Alejandro. The absolutely terrific Rage band kept the packed crowd boozing, rocking and singing until way past 2 a.m. and on a Thursday at that, palanggas.

The brains and mega owners of the now fabi Tavern are Chit Juan of Figaro fame, who made sure everyone was served well; Girlie Rodis; fun Sandra Chavez; and "Big Man" Wyngard Tracy, managers of some of the most popular names in the industry. They welcomed their pals and also assisted the Janet Bascos, Maricel Sorianos and Gabby Lopezes to their seats.

Another owner, Tavern’s lights and sounds engineer, Rene Cruz, naturellement, had a blast meeting his old and new gang while keeping watch for a technical glitch. There was none, which definitely says a lot of Cruz’s expertise in lights and sounds.

Before the performers took to the stage, the invitees couldn’t help but congratulate talented architect Johnny Francisco for the classy interiors of the new Tavern.

Besides the music industry crowd, other hotshot personas from Cosmo Manille’s darling set breezed in, palanggas, including Mons Romulo-Tantoco; ABS-CBN’s first couple Gabby and Panjee Lopez; in-demand cardiologist, Dr. Randy Francisco and his hardworking wife, socialite and entrepreneur Irene Martel-Francisco; pretty as a picture Joanna Preysler and her handsome man, Raul Francisco; vivaciously fun Christine Tuason; Rina Francisco; Alex Lichaytoo; sisters two, Veanna and Bledes Fores; still the Prince of High Fashion Inno Sotto; Anton San Diego; PEOPLE Asia’s Philip Cu-Unjieng; gorgeous Claudia Bermudez; plus so many other beautiful faces like them.

As wine and booze were served alongside superbly prepared finger-food, the chi-chi crowd and first-class performers agreed that the Tavern experience is definitely one of a kind that must be experienced by all! No age gap here, palanggas.

Check them out, dahlings. Live entertainment is held at the Tavern on the Square nightly. Watch out–Lani Misalucha will perform live.
David Pomeranz, no less
Super close pals and kin of hotshot fishing magnate the well-loved Bobby del Rosario, really know how to whip up a smashing birthday bash, dahlings. They held one on a fantastic full moon ago at the chi-chi Corinthian Garden home of Bobby and his super attractive wife Moleen del Rosario. The bash featured no less than recording icon and for decades, top-of-the-chart artist, David Pomeranz.

Completing the night’s special entertainment package were top local artists Richard Merck, who came with his adorable wife, BPI’s top "secret" mega lady Roni Tapia, and Arnold Naval. Pomeranz dished his biggest hits including his latest single, a revival of Devoted to You, first made popular in the late ’50s by the Everly Brothers. This super game, international entertainment megastar warmly gave in to three encores which included rock and roll medleys with Richard M., palanggas.

Clearly having a great time were one of the most popular Cosmo Manille couples, Sen. Manny Villar and Rep. Cynthia Villar; Presidential Brother Diosdado "Bobby" Macapagal Jr., his long-time pal Tony Ilomin of Miramar; Bobby’s sister Edna del Rosario; and, naturellement, Ramon and Lucy Chuaying of MCA Universal, the company that handles the local promotion of David Pomeranz and without whom the special entertainment would not have been possible.

In another part of Bobby del R.’s sprawling home were COPA chairman, fresh from a six-month post kidney transplant quarantine, Billy Esposo and his fantastic wife Meyang E.; fun Froi Kierulf; our dearest palanggas, Henry and Jojo Zabarte; Eva Abesamis; and Sugar Baron Citoy Lopez.

Pals tried to eavesdrop on the hot conversation of other invitees like Universal Records’ Bella Tan; former Navotas Mayor Peping del Rosario and his wife Lit; Chinese-Filipino Business Club president taipan Dante Go; producer and banker Ben Yalung; popular Malabon Mayor Jay-Jay Yambao and his wife Sherry Y. But with so many other socializing personas, there was no chance at all getting close to them, dahlings.

Adding glitter to this fun happening were beautiful faces of the movie world like moi all-time fave handsome couple, Albert and Liezl Martinez; Monetary Board member Bimbo Salazar; Ambassadors Roy Seneres and Joe Zaldariaga; Cinderella’s Danny and graceful feminine beauty Grace Reyes Coronel; Aguila Glass tycoon Rante Aguila; Francis and Bella Laurel; banker Momoy and his wife; Mila de Jesus; and Sanden’s Tony and Charing Ang.

The great company made Bobby’s day. After all, palanggas, that’s what great surprises are all about, n’est pas?

Build-A-Dream
We’re helping kids build a future by giving them access to their ABCs. We need your help with the 1,2,3s to finance their ABCs, dahlings.

The indigent children of Bacoor badly needed a preschool education to get a head start in life. So, those caring personas of Build-A-Dream are trying to make that happen.

Build-A-Dream is a foundation of young professionals committed to uplift the quality of life for underprivileged children in poor urban areas by using their skills and resources to provide kids with educational facilities, palanggas. Together with Sr. Rivkha, a Rogationist sister, Build-A-Dream (BAD) established its flagship preschool in Bacoor, Cavite, where the urban poor in the area could send their kids for a free preschool education and prepare them for an elementary education.

BAD, palanggas, is conducting a garage sale this coming Oct. 13, Sunday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Santuario de San Antonio Parish grounds in Forbes Park, Makati. They would greatly appreciate donations of second-hand items (i.e. clothes, books, household appliances, etc.) that will be sold during the garage sale. Proceeds will go to the Bacoor Preschool. They are also open to cash donation as well, naturellement.

Please drop your donations at 6 Lippay St. or ask for Malou or Agnes if you want them to pick up your donations.

In the meantime, moi would like to thank all you palanggas, for helping Build-A-Dream make the dreams of our less fortunate brothers and sisters come true.

With Tavern back in the scene, you’re definitely in for a rocking night.

Remember, palanggas, do drive safely, speed kills.

See you.
