Limuel Tampus rules 3rd Bankal Chess Club rapid tourney
CEBU, Philippines — Limuel Tampus reigned supreme in the 3rd Bankal Chess Club Rapid Tournament over the weekend at the Barangay Bankal gym in Lapu-Lapu City.
Tampus was actually tied with John Dave Lavandero on identical 5.5 points but Tampus went on to pocket the P3,000 champion’s purse courtesy of a higher tiebreaker.
Lavandero claimed P2,000 for finishing second.
Lance David Gimena receive P1,000 for settling at solo third place.
Maria Kristine Lavandero, Sophia Johansson, Daren Corro, and Bruce Wayne Villagonza occupied the fourth to seventh spots with 4.0 points each.
Rounding up the top 10 were Godwin Gamboa, Martin Caylan, and Franz Hendrick Vasquez with 3.5 points apiece.
Meanwhile, the top performers in their categories were Daniel Keth Gelig (club members), Danica Jolly Lavandero (female), and Lor Nickhoule Angelo Esbra and Erica Sombilon (12 Under).
