Cheers! A taste of North Korea in Seoul
SEOUL, South Korea — Tucked away in the dazzling neon of Seoul's Hongdae nightlife district lies the city's only North Korean-themed pub, which aims to give its Southern patrons a taste of their nuclear-armed neighbor.
"The writings and slogans seem familiar, and it seems that they have paid a lot of attention to the details, but it’s not really like Pyongyang. It feels more like a movie set," Na Min-hee, North Korean defector said.
"A lot of people come here - some who sympathize with North Korea and some who hate North Korea - but the majority of people, 80-90 percent, just come here for fun. Honestly, I’m not that interested in the politics between North and South Korea," Jang Wookyung, owner of North Korean styled pub said.
