WATCH: Sky glitters as lanterns released at Thai festival

CHIANG MAI, Thailand — People release lanterns into the sky in northern Thailand for the annual Loy Krathong festival.

Loy Krathong festival takes place on the evening of the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai calendar, which usualy falls in November.

Somt Thai placed krathongs, or floating baskets, in a pond to mark the annual Loy Krathong festival.
