HUNTINGTON, United States — Judges at a surf competition in Huntington Beach, California, "are looking for length of the ride, the confidence" of the contestants on the surfboard, says Marcie Taylor, the event’s media officer. But there’s a major difference here: Those competing for the title are dogs.
"The judges are looking for length of the ride, the confidence of the dog on the surfboards — kind of like actual surf competitions for humans," Taylor said.
