WATCH: New Zealand students perform haka in tribute to victims of shooting
School students perform the haka during a vigil in Christchurch on March 18, 2019, three days after a shooting incident at two mosques in the city that claimed the lives of 50 Muslim worshippers. New Zealand will tighten gun laws in the wake of its worst modern-day massacre, the government said on March 18, as it emerged that the white supremacist accused of carrying out the killings at two mosques will represent himself in court.

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand — Thousands turn up at a student-initiated vigil outside one of the mosques where the Christchurch shooting took place, pledging to carry on in 'peace, love and unity' as students perform a traditional Maori haka in tribute to the victims.

The traditional Maori ceremonial dancehas been performed by groups across New Zealand in the wake of killings.

And in Auckland, students at Orewa College gathered to form a heart and the message "Kia Kaha" -- "stay strong" in Maori.
