MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Tourism has retained its official slogan “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” despite President Rodrigo Duterte’s decision to support the proposal to rename the country “Maharlika.”

Tourism chief Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said the agency did not change the slogan because “it works.”

Puyat shrugged off the idea of renaming the country to “Maharlika” because it has not yet been approved by the Congress.

Last week, the idea of changing the name of the country to “Maharlika ” resurfaced after Duterte in a speech said former President Ferdinand Marcos was right in calling for the name change, noting that "Philippines" has colonial origins
