MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Cathedral on Thursday unveiled a relic of St. Pope John Paul II, a vial of his blood.

Fr. Reginald Malicdem, cathedral rector, led the unveiling ceremony of the first-ever blood relic of the great Pope. The blood is stored in a glass container.

The relic was opened for public veneration on Thursday. It will be brought out for another public veneration on Sunday.
