MANILA, Philippines — On Monday morning, Solicitor General Jose Calida urged the Supreme Court to look into the legality of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno's appointment as head of the judiciary.
He filed a 34-page petition for a quo warranto, asking the high court to declare as void Sereno's appointment as chief justice and oust her from her position. The petition is set to be tackled on today's en banc session.
