Black Nazarene devotees share their stories

Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines - A day before the Black Nazarene feast, we took to Quiapo and asked devotees about their stories.

The Feast of the Black Nazarene draws hundreds of thousands of people every year, most of them Catholics who yearn to touch the iconic black statue of Jesus Christ, whose veneration Pope Innocent X approved in 1650.

The procession, considered the biggest one in the country, is held every January 9. Called "translacion," it depicts Christ's passion and suffering en route to his crucifixion.
