WATCH: PNP says some passengers take bullets as ‘agimat’
MANILA, Philippines — Reacting to the alleged bullet-planting or "laglag-bala" scam on Monday, the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-Avsegroup) warned passengers against taking bullets to airports.
Police Superintendent Jeanne Panisan, public information officer of PNP-Avsegroup, said among reasons cited by accosted passengers after bullets are discovered inside their luggage is their belief in amulets or good luck charms, locally called "agimat."
"May mga cases din po na sinasabi nila na agimat pero hindi po nila alam na bawal,” Panisan said in the press briefing.

Panisan also noted that the luggage may even be borrowed from relatives who own guns and may have failed to empty the bags of the bullets before lending them.
