WATCH: Largest passenger airliner lands at NAIA

MANILA, Philippines — The Emirates' A380, the world's largest passenger airliner, landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on Tuesday night and welcomed with a water-cannon salute.

Capt. Franklyn Desiderio piloted the record-breaking aircraft, the Emirates' flagship, for its one-off, commercial flight in celebration of the aviation firm's transfer to the new Manila terminal.

President Aquino inspected the status of the terminal transfer of the Emirates and four other foreign airlines—Delta, KLM, Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific—from NAIA Terminal 1.

He also met Desiderio, hailed as the first Filipino certified to fly the giant Airbus 380.
