Friends, politicians condole with Reyes family at wake
MANILA, Philippines – Students from the Ramon Magsaysay High School trooped to the Ascension Columbary this afternoon to offer their condolences to the family of the late former Armed Forced of the Philippines chief Angelo Reyes.
The group, led by Dr. Josefina Perlado of RMHS in Cubao, Quezon City arrived past noon.
In an interview with reporters, Perlado described Reyes, an outstanding graduate of RMHS Batch 1960, as a bright student who was active both in academics and extra-curricular activities.
She said Reyes' death is "a great loss to the nation."
Reyes' last project before he died was the greening project inside the RMHS December last year, Perlado added.
Earlier today, former President Fidel Ramos, former basketball star Chito Loyzaga, Police Director Roberto Rosales, and former Local Government Secretary Rafael Alunan III arrived at the former AFP chief's wake.
Meanwhile, bouquets of flowers were continuously being brought to the Columbary, including those from President Aquino.
Reyes, 65, shot himself yesterday in front of his mother's grave at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City.
