MANILA, Philippines – In deference of the amnesty proclamation by President Aquino, the Makati City Regional Trial Court has deferred or canceled the promulgation of the decision of rebellion charges against detained Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV and other soldiers involved in the Oakwood mutiny.
Pimentel said he would issue an order before the end of the year, adding that he respects Mr. Aquino's decision to grant amnesty to the soldiers.
Trillanes and several military officers have been charged with rebellion in connection with the takeover of Oakwood Hotel in Makati City on July 27, 2003. During the incident, the soldiers aired their grievances on the alleged corruption in the military.
