MANILA, Philippines - I would like to strongly protest your columnist William Esposo’s description of the Press Secretary and me as “sphincters”.
This was Mr. Esposo’s erudite response to my earlier advice to Sen. Noynoy to be his own man — advice which I simply quoted from a Catholic cardinal no less, and which Noynoy’s own consultants would probably echo as well: “don’t run just on your parents’ laurels, instead build a record of your own atop their legacy to you”.
The impudence, intemperance, and incivility of your columnist are breath-taking. They do no credit either to his expensive Blue Eagle education or his much-vaunted lay Catholic advocacies.
Mr. Esposo would do well to heed the President’s SONA admonition not to use bad words in public. Or, if he prefers another woman president of ours, ask himself if President Cory would have applauded his choice of language.
Profanity — and worse — indeed begins where reason ends. Calm down and restrain yourself, Mr. Esposo, before you wreck a lot more about yourself than just your chair. — GARY OLIVAR, presidential economic spokesperson
