Postal awareness promotion in schools up

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Postal Corp. signed a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Education and the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) to help promote postal awareness in schools.

With many of today’s youth well versed with cyber social communication, the Philippine Postal Corp. (PhlPost) is re-orienting the students to the traditional  letter writing and stamp collection.

For this endeavor the PhlPost has partnered with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) to promote letter writing and stamp collection in schools.

Last Wednesday afternoon, PhlPost postmaster general Josefina dela Cruz, Education Secretary Armin Luistro and KWF administrator Virgilio Almario signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA).

This is to “intensify the promotion of the nationwide letter writing project ‘Salamat Po’ wherein the theme was inspired by the 2011 State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Aquino, which focused on appreciating the good deeds instead of criticizing each other and PhlPost can play a vital role in promoting positivism among the youth through letter writing and at the same time promote the use of Filipino language,” the moa said.
