MANILA, Philippines - Nestlé Philippines, Inc. (NPI) recently announced the inaugural batch of NESCAFÉ Coffee University of the Philippines Scholarship (CUPS) scholars.
University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) College of Agriculture students Lyza Quilong Quilong (III-BS Agriculture), Maria Cristina Heredia (III-BS Agricultural Biotechnology), and Aeron Ruazol (II-BS Agricultural Biotechnology) were formally awarded their scholarships on Nov. 11 in a ceremony at the Nestlé Philippines head office in Makati City.
Through the Nescafé CUPS program, the three students will be given full scholarships with stipends, as well as will be provided slots in Nestlé’s prestigious on-the-job training (OJT) program and will be given the opportunity to be engaged by the company for a year after graduation. The scholarship was launched to help generate interest in agriculture — particularly in coffee farming — among the youth.
Among the NPI officials who attended the ceremony were John Martin Miller, chairman and CEO; Donald Howat, business executive manager for Coffee and Creamer Creations; and Edith de Leon, senior vice president and head of corporate affairs.
“I have great confidence that you will live up to your goals and aspirations, and I very much hope that in the years to come, you may have the opportunity to journey with us as we nourish future generations of Filipino families,†said Miller.
