MANILA, Philippines -The Aboitiz Group, through the Aboitiz Foundation, Inc., has reaffirmed its promise and steadfast commitment to support the Department of Education (DepEd) in its efforts to improve the public education system in the country.
Aboitiz Foundation president Jon Ramon Aboitiz and Education Secretary Armin Luistro led other stakeholders in signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that reinforces the Foundation’s partnership with DepEd to provide assistance to public schools in the form of school buildings, assistance to teachers, food and nutrition, computer and science laboratories, and learning support.
In his message, Luistro encouraged both the parents and students to also do their share in ensuring that these donations will go a long way.
The Foundation’s commitment to heed the DepEd’s call has resulted in the construction of at least 500 classrooms; donation of thousands of armchairs, computers, library kits and laboratories; and awarding of scholarships to 17,820 scholars.
This partnership, said Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. president and CEO Erramon Aboitiz underscores the need for stakeholders “to continue working together to achieve a common goal of preparing the youth… to lead the country to progress and sustainable development.”
Aboitiz Foundation president Jon Ramon Aboitiz, for his part, urged the scholars to be passionate about learning and “be prepared to face opportunities that will come your way.”
Now on its seventh year, the Interventions in Education gathers students, teachers and parents who have benefited from the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to ensure a better future for the youth and the communities where Aboitiz Group businesses operate.
Also during the event, scholars and their parents will give testimonials on how the Foundation, by fulfilling its mission of “Helping people help themselves,” has provided them with opportunities that could ensure them of a brighter future.
