MANILA, Philippines - Top educator and author Dr. Vivien Talisayon has been appointed vice president for academic affairs of the Philippine Women’s University by its board of trustees led by chairperson Dr. Helena Benitez. A Philwomenian having completed her secondary education as valedictorian in 1961, Talisayon brings with her an impressive record of an educator and academic administrator. Prior to her new appointment, she was College of Education dean of the University of the Philippines where she earned the degree of B.S. Physics. She holds a Ph.D in Science Education from Cornell University, USA. A TOWNS (The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service) awardee in 1989, she has written and co-authored seven books, published close to a hundred articles in local and foreign publications and participated in international conferences in physics and science education.
