All you need to know to protect your votes

MANILA, Philippines - The Center for Global Best Practices (CGBP) is launching a pioneering program entitled, ‘Best Practices in Detecting and Counteracting Election Fraud.” This is the only and most comprehensive program that will feature all you need to know to protect your ballots and your votes. It will be held on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, Mandaluyong City.

Fraud has always been part of election exercises, especially in Philippine politics. With the implementation of the Election Automation Law, when everyone is new to the system, the opportunities for cheating will be ever present.

This one-time event is a rare opportunity to learn from the expert. Listen to Atty. Ferdinand Rafanan, director of the law department of Comelec. He is also the chairman of the special bids and awards committee that selected the Automation Election System for the May 10, 2010 elections. This UP Law ’83 graduate conceptualized the Electvoice” (Election Law Enforcement and Compliance Thru Voters’ Instruction and Candidates Education).

To further assist election practioners, CGBP will also hold a special program entitled, “The Law on Election Automation: General Instructions on Voting, Canvassing, Transmission, Protest Mechanisms and Continuity Plans,” scheduled on Dec. 9, 2009. This will lay down the entire blueprint of the 2010 elections. The lecturers for this event are Atty. Rafanan and Comelec Commissioner Rene Sarmiento.
