National Tourism Students Congress set

MANILA, Philippines - The Union of Filipino Tourism Educators (UFTE), formerly known as TESCU, will stage its 4th Annual National Tourism Students Congress at the Ugnayang La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) this coming Aug. 29.

Participated in annually by thousands of tourism and hospitality management students, the 4th Tourism Students’ Congress boasts of a Tourism Skills Olympics wherein the UFTE Cup is given to the school whose delegates’ skills are on top of the others. This year’s congress will feature the much-awaited tour guiding and tour packaging competitions, tourism quiz bee, cultural dance presentation, poster and slogan making contest, and Kasuotang Pilipino contest.

Expected to attend are thousands of students from all over Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao-based tourism/HRM schools, colleges, and universities. To increase students’ awareness of their roles in the tourism industry, the UFTE organizers invited significant personalities to give talks on “Tourism opportunities amidst global crisis”, with Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan is invited as the keynote speaker, Mae Castellano of Avon Cosmetics will discuss “Image enhancement: Becoming a new you,” and Ivy de Borja, asst. HR manager of Travellers International Hotel Group will talk on “Career opportunities in tourism and hospitality industry amidst global crisis”.
