University of South Australia - helping students maximize their potential

MANILA, Philippines - One of the universities that Inter-Ed works with in Australia is the university of South Australia, or as it is more commonly known, UniSA. UniSA was founded on January 1, 1991 through the amalgamation of the South Australian Institute of Technology and the Magill, Salisbury and Underdale campuses of the South Australian College of Advanced Education. Since then, it has quickly earned a reputation as a national leader in collaborative research, has been recognised nationally for innovation in teaching and has South Australia’s largest intake of international students. The wide range of programs available at Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D. levels, along with the City Center location have made UniSA a firm favourite with students from the Philippines, especially those wanting to pursue Health Sciences, Education, Architecture and several business disciplines.

Educating professionals – UniSA’s unique approach to teaching and learning is student-centred, focused on the outcomes of higher education, and delivered through very flexible program arrangements. Designed in consultation with industry and the professions, UniSA programs include fieldwork, industry guided simulations and industry projects. This real-world experience whilst studying means UniSA graduates are equipped with the qualities employers look for. UniSA graduates become significant contributors to their chosen professions - people who are instrumental in reshaping the nature of contemporary Australian and regional society. Most Philippine students who graduate from UniSA are eligible to apply for On-Shore Skills Migration through the General Skilled Migration Program (GSM) that encourages international students undertaking professional degrees to consider Australia as their permanent home after graduation.

International - UniSA has strong and expanding links in teaching, research, consultancy and continuing education with partners in Asia, Europe, Africa and North America.

Admission – to make admission UniSA more immediate and achievable, UniSA maintains an office in the Philippines which is run by International education Specialists, and can be found at 2/F Trafalgar Plaza, 105 H.V. de la Costa St., Salcedo Village Makati City – tel. 819-1001. As part of the Education Adelaide Festival, Mark Charnley from UniSA International will be conducting admission interviews at International Education Specialists in Manila on July 20, 2009, from 1 – 5 p.m. All counseling is free. Students interested in Undergraduate or Graduate (or research) programs may just call the Inter-Ed office to set a time for their interview on a first-come, first-served basis. Roger Bartholomew, president of Inter-Ed said that UniSA represented the type of university education that all parents would want their children to have, and that all students applying would be given career mapping diagnostic tests, to ensure that they were placing their time and resources into an academic area that would ensure the maximization of their career potential.
