MANILA, Philippines — Camilla Lamina sacrificed everything just to pursue a dream of playing in the Premier Volleyball League.

It came true Wednesday night after the former UAAP best setter and champion National University star emerged the 2026 PVL Rookie Draft’s first overall pick after Galeries Tower selected her in a grand ceremony at the Novotel.

“I sacrificed a lot, devoted my life to volleyball just for this moment,” said Lamina, who will play alongside fellow setters Julia Coronel, Aiza Pontillas and Jean Asis among others.

Lamina vowed to dish nothing less than her best.

“I promise to showcase my talent and give my 100-percent effort,” she said.

Detdet Pepito, a talented libero from University of Santo Tomas, was tabbed second by Capital1, joining a loaded team headed by her longtime buddy Bella Belen.

Pepito should form an explosive libero tandem with Roma Doromal and play alongside not just Belen but also other stars like Leila Cruz, Vanie Gandler and Erika Santos.

Another setter in Far Eastern University’s Tin Ubaldo was nabbed at No. 3 by Choco Mucho to plug in the holes left by Tia Andaya, who is currently on leave.

Ubaldo wasn’t able to attend the event as she was with Alas Pilipinas seeing action in the AVC Women’s Volleyball Cup in Candon, Ilocos Sur.

Mapua middle blocker Alyanna Ong, meanwhile, became the first player from the NCAA to become drafted in this year’s batch and went to ZUS Coffee at No. 4.

Shockingly, Akari passed up on its fifth pick.
