Zus Coffee eyeing Gagate
MANILA, Philippines — La Salle’s Thea Gagate is bound to join Zus Coffee as the first pick in the first Premier Volleyball League Rookie Draft set July 8 at the Novotel.
Zus Coffee won the lottery for the No. 1 overall selection in historic proceedings at Cignal’s Launchpad in Mandaluyong last night, and coach Jerry Yee readily declared their intention to use it on the player that everybody covets
“Thea Gagate,“ Yee told The STAR.
Yee is expected to build around Gagate as well as his College of St. Benilde players who were part of the magnificent NCAA three-peat sweep feat – Cloanne Mondonedo, Gayle Pascual, Michelle Gamit and Jade Gentapa.
The Thunderbelles, formerly Strong Group Athletics, had four balls in the lottery as against Capital1’s three, Galeries Tower’s two and Farm Fresh’s one.
Capital1 gained the rights for the second pick, Galeries for the third and Farm Fresh fourth.
Petro Gazz’s Brooke Van Sickle drew the first pick, Choco Mucho’s Sisi Rondina the second and Cignal’s Ces Molina the third and fourth picks.
