6 students to represent Phl in Maybank's global biz talent tilt

MANILA, Philippines - Six students from various universities in the country will represent the Philippines at the Maybank Go. Ahead Challenge Grand Finals in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia next month.

Students from the University of the Philippines (UP), Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), De La Salle University, University of Sto. Tomas, Adamson University (ADU), and University of Asia & the Pacific underwent last July 26 a rigorous screening process to earn their spot in the competition where they will go against challengers from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Brunei, China, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The six finalists from the Philippines are John Richmond Go, 20, 4th year BS Management minor in Chinese Studies and Finance student in ADMU; John Alfred Mendoza, 20, 4th year BS Business Administration and Accountancy student in UP; Selynn Alexis Co, 20, 4th BS Management Engineering student in ADMU; Camille Patricia Calma, 20, 4th year BS Business Administration student in UP; Richard Agabus Ocampo, 24, graduate of BA Financial Management in ADU; and Winchell Well Wong, 21, 4th year BS Business Administration and Accountancy student in UP.

“I am excited and happy for these six business students from the country’s top universities as they will be a part of a unique competition where they will be tested intellectually, physically and even psychologically together with some of the brightest and driven college students from Asia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The Maybank Go Ahead. Challenge is a multi-disciplinary business talent competition open to recent graduates and final-year university students. The competition, now on its third year, is part of Maybank's goal of creating a talent pool of world-class future business leaders and financial experts. Winners will get $72,000 and the opportunity to join the Global Maybank Apprentice Program, an international mentorship for the bank's future leaders.
