MANILA, Philippines - The Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) launched last month the Ateneo Center for Health Evidence and Leadership (AHEALS), seen to be a strategic hub that will implement ADMU's health-related strategies under its 'defeat poverty' goal.
University President Fr. Jett Villarin, SJ, appointed Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health Dean Manuel M. Dayrit as the Executive Director of AHEALS for December 2013 to November 2014.
The center's mission is to provide evidence-based solutions to help various stakeholders, including local and national government, institute and manage effective health systems in the country.
AHEALS will adopt a total approach that has six dimensions, namely, governance, regulation, financing, service delivery, human resources and information systems.
It aims to contribute to improving the institutional capabilities of local government units in designing, implementing, and monitoring their health care programs to achieve more tangible and sustainable outcomes.
