MANILA, Philippines - Camarines Sur 2nd District Rep. Diosdado Macapagal Arroyo and his mother, Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo filed a bill granting scholarships to public school teachers and their children.
House Bill 3035, also known as the Scholarship Grants to Public School Teachers and their Children Act of 2013, provides scholarship grants to teachers who are at least two consecutive years in the service to enrol in any postgraduate course. It also grants scholarships to teachers' legitimate children for their pre-school, elementary, secondary and tertiary education.
The proposed measure, aiming to recognize teachers and provide them benefits, also covers retired public school teachers, but only to a proportional amount for their children.
Teachers who have been charged and proven to have committed acts of professional misconduct will not be qualified for the program.
