MANILA, Philippines — An alleged scheme to frame up a high-ranking Marcos administration official has been foiled following the arrest of a suspected pimp by the National Bureau of Investigation in Manila. NBI Director Melvin Matibag said the suspect, who has links to a network that supplies sex workers, was apprehended during an entrapment operation in a posh hotel in Manila on Tuesday.

Matibag did not reply when asked to identify the administration official and the politician who recruited the pimp.

The pimp supposedly offered women for P250,000 each to NBI agents who posed as customers in exchange for sexual services.

“The sex-supply ring offers both women and men to politicians,” Matibag said in an interview on GMA News on Wednesday night.

When NBI agents checked the suspect’s cellphone, Matibag said they found conversations about a plot by a politician to lure the official into the company of prostitutes.

Matibag said the women who were rescued in the operation admitted that they were supposed to take part in the scheme to put the official in a compromising situation.

“Investigation showed that some politicians are talking to this group to set up administration officials to make it appear that they are clients of prostitutes,” Matibag said.
