Panawagan ni Archbishop Alberto Uy

Niining nagbaga nga isyo karon sa corruption, si Cebu Archbishop Alberto Uy, sumala sa napatik sa The Freeman, nanawagan sa mga Christianos nga magbiling matinud-anon sa kamatuoran, katarungan, ug kalinaw, ug pagpahiluna sa ilang loyalty ngadto sa Ginoo above political personalities ug partisan interests.

Sa ato pa, sa atong pag-usisa sa issue on corruption, atong ihikling ang atong mga personal biases, ug mga political loyalties. Kini, aron ma-objective ang atong pag-aninaw sa isyo.

Sa pangutana kon ang Bibliya nag-mention ba sa corruption, ang google maoy nitubag: “Yes, corruption is frequently addressed in the Bible, both as a moral failing and a spiritual condition.

It is condemned as an act of injustice and greed. The scriptures focus heavily on the prohibition of bribery, which perverts (to corrupt) justice.”

Dugang passages sa Bibliya: Deuteronomy 16:19 warn that "a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of those who are in the right;” Proverbs 17:23 “condemns the wicked who accept bribes in secret to pervert justice.”

Ecclesiastes 7:7, the Bible notes that “oppression and bribery can corrupt the heart and drive the wise to madness.”

Dili na lang nato dungagan pa ang mga gipamulong dinhi sa Bibliya, kay tingali unya og masayop ang atong pagsabot ug interpretasyon.

Matud ni Uy, dugay nang ni-exist ang corruption sa atong nasud, apan daghan gihapon ang mga sulugoon sa lungsod nga nag-alagad “with honesty and dedication.” Bitaw,g mas daghan kini sila kay sa nahilambigit sa kalapasan ug kahiwian sa pagpadagan sa kagamhanan.

Apan, matud niya, “the persistence of corruption should not lead us to despair but should inspire Filipinos to pray, remain vigilant, and work toward national renewal.”

Kinahanglan nga dili kita mawad-an sa paglaom; kining katiwilian karon sa atong nasud, atong hmuon nga inspirasyon sa pag-ampo, pagpabilin nga mabinantayon, ug pagpaningkamot nga makab-ot ang nasudnong pagbag-o.

Giikag ni Uy ang mga Christianos pag-support sa mga matinud-anon, honest nga mga leaders

“to promote transparency, ug pag-practice sa kaligdong sa inadlaw nilang panginabuhi.

“It is rarely the powerful. It is the poor. It is the ordinary Filipino family struggling to earn a living, the workers, the farmers, the fisherfolk, the elderly, and the children.

 They are the ones who pay the highest price whenever corruption and conflict prevail,” pahimangno ni Uy.

Sa atong bahin maoy atong ipangaliya nga dili unta mo-triumph ang evil over good, kundili, ang good over evil.
