Banat Opinyon

Ang pag-alagad sa duha ka agalon

IYO ANTOY - Antolin dela Serna - Banat

Atong kutluon kining gipamulong ni Hesus sumala sa Ebanghelyo ni Lk 16:1-8: “No servant can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Klaro kaayo kining pahimangno ni Hesus, apan ato lamang kining gi-take for granted, gi-ignore ug gipakibali-wala lang. Walay suloguon nga makaalagad og duha ka agalon at the same time. Dili tingali mosugot ang Department of Labor niini, nga modawat ka og sweldo gikan sa mayor, ug at the same time, modawat usab ug laing sweldo gikan sa gobernador.

Anyway, unsa may buot ipasabot ni Hesus sa iyang pag-ingon nga dili kita maka-serve God and mammon? Unsa ug kinsa man kining mammon?

Explanation sa Google: “In the Bible, ‘mammon’ refers to material wealth, money, and possessions, but more specifically represents the corrupting influence of riches and the act of idolizing wealth over God.”

Dugang sa Google: “It is portrayed as a master that demands a choice: one cannot serve both God and mammon. This means that trusting in money for security and happiness is a form of worship that opposes faith in God, who is the ultimate provider.”

Sa iyang ‘Sermon on the Mount’, Jesus warned that people cannot serve both God and money, as the two are in conflict. Kining maong pagtulon-an, matud pa, “implies that prioritizing material wealth over faith and righteousness is dangerous because it can lead to a divided heart and a false sense of security.”

Ang term ‘mammon’ nagagikan sa Aramaic word m?m?n?, nga simply means money, riches, or property, ug si Hesus migamit sa maong pulong, to highlight the moral danger of valuing riches over faith and righteousness.

Kuyaw, kon ato nang i-value more ang katigayunan over sa katarong. Pangutan-on nato ang atong kaugalingon kon kining atong naangkon nga katigyaunon, nakahatag ba kini og hingpit nga kalipay. Kay matud ni St. Francis of Assisi, “True wealth is something of real value and gives us joy. Dishonest wealth or unjust wealth has little value or none at all. It makes our lives stressful and miserable.”

Mangutana kita sa atong kaugalingon: ‘Unsa man ning ako, dishonest wealth’?
